Rubber-Necking!

You know how I get down………..I’m not one to judge. I call it like it is. If I stay in backed up traffic for an hour and finally get to where the actual cause for the problem is, it is my right as a human being to slow down for at least a second so that I may ascertain as to what has just jacked up my day. Everybody else is doing it. So, why should I be in the dark or even worse be the person who was right by the story but didn’t see it. I paid my dues with that quarter tank of gas that I just burned through. Nah bruh! I am allowed to check it out and maybe even take a picture. Even if the problem ends up being somebody had a flat tire on the side of the road. I get to drive by slowly and use really bad language to let them know how pissed I am.

However, let’s just do the math. If everybody has the same point of view then nobody really has the right to get mad at bad traffic. If you complained about how unbelievably stupid people are while you were backed up in traffic but still took a quick second to check out the problem then you kind of just are one of “them.” We live in a time where “the mob” is in control. “The mob” doesn’t have to make sense or even help us out. Just like a flock of birds, wherever the ones at the front lead us that is which way we go. We can’t look our co-workers in the face and say “I disagree but it’s cool.” We can’t sit at the family dinner and say “can you guys please respect our differences while at the dinner table.” We can’t walk into our favorite social setting and provide a completely different opinion. Where the group goes that is where I go. I can’t do the work for myself. I can’t agree with points one through nine but say no to point ten. So, If the mob stops to look at the girl on the side of the road with the big lungs who didn’t know that cars can overheat……….then so should I. It is my right.

Just for giggles though………….what if everybody agreed to drive by the accident and only pay attention to how we can get this traffic jam solved. Wow! Most of the traffic issues across the country would be solved. What if just half of the drivers made a pledge to not look at the issue but find the best lane to move on and get the hell out of the way. I bet lives would be saved. Amazing! Try this on for size…………the next time you see a group of people doing something that you don’t agree with……Power up! Realize that you are allowed to have an opinion. If it doesn’t feel right you are allowed to question it. If you see a stupid situation you are allowed to change lanes, ignore the BS, find the lane that works best for you and put the peddle to the metal. Giggle at your own maturity, be thankful for the stress you just saved yourself, and keep it pushing even if your Mama is stuck in traffic. Now trust me, it is going to feel really wierd and you are going to hear every reason in the world why being stuck in traffic was the better move. These folks will have you questioning if you are wrong to have been the one to work on time. Hold on! Am I talking about traffic or life? I always get confused. What I’m saying is “STOP RUBBER-NECKING!!”
