Dog Pee Saved My Life!

Gotcha! Come on, you have to admit that is a catchy title. Words nobody has ever said in life. I laughed for a good thirty minutes about the title before I even started writing. The sad part is that it is the only title for this little diddy. It is very appropriate and you will be on my side by the time I am finished. It really did happen.

Let’s start with the real subject. My temper. I am generally considered to be mild-mannered and easy going but when I lose it. It can get ugly. Lets put this in terms of numbers because everybody feels that when they really get mad that the world better watch out. I think the old 1 to 10 method works in this case with one being calm and ten being about to blow a gasket. Lets say you generally walk around at a 3. When you get your hair on fire you go to an eight. That can be pretty bad and I would say you need a little therapy. And most people are going to back off at your eight. However, in reality your eight only carries weight until that unfortunate day when you meet a nine or maybe even the elusive ten(that is a nut case by the way.) If you have ever seen a ten you should know that the only way out of this is to shut your yap, back away slowly and pray that the ten doesn’t feel like pursuing today. I see 6’s, 7’s, 8’s and 9’s all the time and one of my favorite things to do is be there when they run into a ten. Get your popcorn ready because class is in session. Here is where is gets ugly. There are 12’s, 13’s, 14’s and above out there walking among us. That makes no sense mathematically but deal with it they are real. Some are in prisons, mental institution, or even at the house staring out the screen door eating graham crackers. However, some are on drugs, just lost their jobs, marriage just went bad or just lost a loved one and they are in line in front of you at the bank.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled programming. Dog pee! I had a dog named Yellow (not the dogs real name but I had to call her yellow because it fits the story.) I got Yellow as a puppy when I was much younger and not in control of my temper at all. One side of my family are functioning 2’s. Cool people. The other side function at about a five but escalate to ten at the drop of a hat. So, I function at a two but I have a button that propels me to about 11.5. I had to in order to survive my family of tens. I mean I lose it and I am ready to die or go to jail for the smallest thing once I’m gone. Yellow got that part of me as a puppy. I did a great job of training her but she also has seen me at my worse. So, what happened? Yelllow developed the “fright pee” thing. If I got mad she just let it rip. I didn’t even have to get mad at her. I could get mad at a family member, or a friend or the TV and she would look right at me and pee. The more she tinkled the madder I got and the more she would pee. If I chased her she would leave a stream of pee. It would have been comical if it didn’t get me so riled up. Otherwise, Yellow was the perfect dog and companion. I eventually had to make a choice. Get rid of Yellow, keep the family temper going or learn to calm down.

Yellow died last year. She was around fifteen years old and that was the best dog I could have ever asked for. I miss her terribly. She had a wonderful temperament, loved people and kids but was also protective of the family. I honestly am struggling with getting another dog because replacing Yellow would be an exercise in futility and it just hurt too bad losing her. She taught me to calm down and just love. She taught me that it isn’t worth it and that the power of negative energy can go through walls. My 11.5 has landed me on top in a lot of bad situations but it won’t help if I accidentally wake up a 13. You hear about those everyday on the news. Okay, I will try not to be so dramatic. Yellow saved my life!………but Dog Pee Saved My Life is much funier. Anybody want to buy or rent a good carpet or steam cleaner? I’m not using mine.
